hebrews-4-16.jpgSo let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16 NLT

My hubby and I start each day together in prayer and devotions unless for some reason our schedules do not allow. This morning he said to me, “Are you ready for a moment of prayer?” I replied, “yes” and the Spirit immediately brought to my heart and mind this question, “What would it be like to not be able to go to God in prayer?” It was a very sad thought that became one of gratitude and thanks! Our Blessed Jesus, thank You for rending the curtain that we may personally come into Your presence. Of course, the great privilege of prayer became part of time together in the presence of the Lord.

The Bear Went Over the Mountain

On the top of the mountain sits Springfield Farm where I’ve been a caretaker for over 25 years. I’ve seen and photographed. hawks, geese, a blue Heron, all sorts of butterflies and deer but never a bear. Last night our friends came upon as this full grown black bear went for an evening stroll. He just quietly ambled by within about 50 feet of their truck and then crossed over the road, through the soybean field and down into the deep woods! There are times when God says “Be Still” so that He can show us something. Maybe I have spent 25 years rushing around too much, but I am grateful for friends shared their photos and experience with me!

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

Crossing Over

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”  Mark 4:35

God has wonderful plans for another chapter in our lives. He is not content to leave us where we are and He challenges us to trust Him for something new. It seems so nice and peaceful just resting here on this side of what we know, but Jesus may be saying to you what He said to the disciples, “Let’s go to the other side!”

Jesus is inviting each of us to prepare to be ready for new things. But His challenge includes a word we may have missed, Jesus said “Let’s!”  That single word makes all the difference when we launch out to points unknown.

There’s a song we sing at our Brazilian church in Portuguese that loosely translated goes something like this:

Sail away with faith in Jesus

Because this is the way you will see

What beautiful things He will do

Because with Him you will be secure.

translated from Solta O Cabo Do Nau

So if you feel overwhelmed by the smallness of your boat and the vastness of the sea, remember that in your little boat travels the King of kings and the Captain of all ships. No matter the storms, our Lord will never abandon us, nor allow the waves to keep us from the safe harbor of His arms!
