He Who Works Mysteriously

I and Me and Mine and My

Were all that I could see

When life was just smooth sailing

The world was about me

But winds and pains and waves have tossed

My comforts overboard

Till driven by the storm I put

My focus on the Lord

For He who works mysteriously

His will and by His way

To Him who loves us fully

I give my life today

Heaven’s Rest

Heaven’s Rest

The Sabbath was a gift to man

Since creation we could hear

A sound that echoes down our paths

Of God’s footsteps drawing near

For in six mighty days God made

All fins and paws and wings

And His children in a garden there

And tulips for each spring

Then last God paused and gave one day

For us to see we’re blessed

And remember all His work in Christ

And in Christ find Heaven’s Rest!

Our Wagging Tongue

Our tongue is a member

So soft and so slick

Of the busybody gang

And the backstabber’s clique

First it says “Have you heard?

Then it adds “Listen close

To my sweet secret word”

Then it starts to boast

But God sees right through

Every lie we have told

With our nose in the air

When our hearts have grown cold

Because He created

Us for better things

If we’ll just speak the truth

He’ll give us truth we can sing!
