The Good Shepherd’s Staff

The Lord is my Shepherd into deep valleys green
He leads with His staff by a quiet soft stream
But when sin beckons, He tells me to walk
On the straight narrow way through the cleft in the rock

And through the valley of shadows and tears
His rod and His staff comfort all of my fears
When my enemies set up an ambush ahead
He shows me a table where His banquet is spread

Then If I stop to worry about things left undone
His goodness and mercy lead me farther along
With His cross ever guiding like a good shepherd’s staff
We will come to His house when our journey is past!

A Picture Frame in Poetry

The picture frame that limits
Our quickly flying years
Marks a border to the canvas
On which our life appears

And day by day the choices
Of how we use our time
Are painting our life’s portrait
For those we leave behind

So why not give the artist’s brush
By faith To Jesus Christ?
Only He can paint the love of God
In our picture frame of life

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

He Remembers Prayers

Prayer is not an idle wish
And more than wondering
If God might be too busy with
Some more important things

It puts down its deepest roots
In the garden of our cares
Knowing God has scheduled us
In His appointment book of prayer

And bends low to listen for
Each child of His who seeks
For He well remembers when
At Calvary He was weak

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15 ESV
