Just a Few More Miles

It’s been fifty years of marriage dear
Now you know my math’s not strong
But that’s two thousand and six hundred weeks
If my calculator is not wrong

And with leap years and those quarter days
The months slip by so fast
It’s hard to count the meals you’ve cooked
And the birthdays that have passed

Paying the electric bills
The joy of Christmas each December
And teaching boys to pray and trust
Oh our loving God remembers

And walks with us down all the roads
Through hardships and our trials
Let’s finish well and trust Him still
For there’s just a few more miles!

Hands

Hands aren’t just made for spanking 
Or for pulling on our ears
They’re also made for holding ours 
And drying all our tears

They pick us up when we fall down
And hold us up us in prayer
At night they tuck us in to sleep
And gently stroke our hair

But the hands I love the most
Were nailed to the cross
Where Jesus took away my sins
So I would not be lost!

The Pigeons Were Just Hanging Out

The pigeons were just hanging out
While the hawk snoozed on his perch
The cardinals were singing
When woodpecker went to work!

And his tapping was reminding me
We still have a job to do
So just sitting ‘round and wishing
Is not what God wants us to do 

For even though He gives us fun
And resting is just fine
He has much more for us in store
For us in Summertime

He has a garden we must plant
With rows to weed and tend
And water with our tears and prayers
Till He brings His harvest in!
