Lessons from the Birds

I have always been fascinated watching birds. Whether it was finding baby robins in our raspberry patch or seeing the red tailed hawk hunting over the field behind the barn, they can teach us wordless lessons about life and God. In fact Jesus told us to pay attention to the because God delights in revealing Himself even in them.

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26 NKJV

It has been interesting since our move to Florida to discover many species that are new to me. Though there are so many different kinds they all share one thing in common with their Northeastern cousins. None of them lies awake at night worrying about tomorrow! Here are just a few shots I took of some of our new feathered friends. – Okay so the last one isn’t exactly a native Florida species but I had to include that chicken sleeping on the lamb! Have a great week everyone!

Sunrise to Sunset

It has been hot this week so last night we went for a walk and the breeze from the Gulf felt wonderful. I got some nice sunset photos that remind me of the verse about giving praise to God no matter the time. He is worthy to be exalted not only at sunset but even all through the night!

From the rising of the sun to its going down The Lord ’s name is to be praised.
Psalms 113:3 NKJV

God’s Grace in Humility

Two kinds of rabbits on my morning walk today. One behind the fence knows his limits and weaknesses and is quick to the burrow when danger comes by. The other on the outside and free goes wherever he wants leaving his home far behind. He is sure that since he is a rabbit that he will always be able to hop away faster than any enemy. That will be true only until he is surprised by the dog he doesn’t see till too late!

God is asking us just what kind of f rabbit are we?
