The Party

I planned a pity party at my little house today

I designed the invitations and I sent them on their way

I started with our neighbor Rick and his wife and children too

But he shook his head and said no thanks I have so much to do

So then I called my sister

In hopes she could come

But her voice mail came and told me to

Just speak after the tone

Next I thought to see my pastor so I drove down to the church

But he was at the nursing home there doing the Savior’s work

Last of all I went back home to see my family

Surely my own wife and kids would hear my honest plea

But she was busy binding up our child’s wounded knee

And I realized this pity party wasn’t happening for me

So I went into my room alone and I sulked before the Lord

“Doesn’t anybody even care?” I wept

Then I heard His gentle word

“On the day that I was crucified, my closest friends all fled

And at Pilate’s word I was beaten raw and with thorns they crowned my head.

Then between two thieves I hung on a cross

And even they both mocked my name

Until in pain one began to plead

With me to forgive his shame

So in the struggles you face today

When you’re feeling quite alone

If you listen you’ll hear another’s cry

You can bring before My throne

And Instead of pity you’ll find grace

And strength for every need

And a path that leads to my Father’s house

Where there’s love and joy and peace

God is preaching His Sermon

Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. Psalm 19:2

In the storms my God shouts with a loud thunderclap

While on my windows He whispers with the gentle rain’s tap

In my mornings He speaks like the sweet robin’s song

And He calls me to action with the breaking of dawn

With each day my God gives another sermon begins

When I listen I remember He’s forgiven my sins

Then at noonday He pauses and calls me to rest

Because there’s work to be done before His sunsets

Always Pray

Always Pray and Never Faint

When our eyes first open and the sun peeks ikimg2456n

We can thank the Lord as our day begins

Or when storms close in with darkening skies

And we run for shelter to our dear Lord’s side

kimg1384When the corn is ripe or when the fields look dead

We can still thank God for our daily bread

When we’ve sinned and feel the guilt and shame

He forgives us if we ask in His holy name

When we’ve run the race as far as we can

He renews our strength when we pray to Him

In every day and through every night

In every victory and through every fight

When we stand up strong or when we fall down

If we’ll pray to the end He has promised a crownp1010267

It’s not by our wisdom that this battle’s won

Not by our own strength that the race can be run

He gives when we ask He that seeks surely finds

When we pray and don’t faint to the end of the line!

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint             Luke 18:1
