I don’t often share personal things about our family, both due to my own reticence along with the desire to protect their privacy. However, this week we really need your prayers for our daughter-in-law Melinda. Last year Melinda was diagnosed with ovarian cancer exactly as my wife had been five years ago. She went through the same chemo regimen as Nancy and seemed equally to have beaten this terrible disease up until this Monday. That was when a scan revealed the beginnings of cancer on the lining of her stomach. Her doctor has already scheduled for Melinda to start another 6 rounds of chemo on Tuesday. This has been devastating emotionally for all of us. I would so appreciate your prayers as we begin yet another journey into the unknown. Please ask especially that the Lord would encourage, heal strengthen and give direction, especially for Chris and Melinda. Thanks so much!

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16 ESV
Tell Chris and Melinda that when the Lord and I “visit Florida” each night, I will remember them in prayers along with you. Ovarian is the most insidious of cancers because the organ is so small, and its spread is so devious, but nothing is impossible with Yahweh-Rapha, The God Who Heals.
Check out “Miracles Today” by Dr. Craig Keener and trust that Father will do what is best.

Thank you C. A. We appreciate your prayers.
Thank you for sharing this, Pete. My Nancy and I will pray for Melinda.
Thank you Dave. I so appreciate those who take the time to pray. I know that God is listening and that He answers when we come in Jesus name.
Praying for you and your family as requested. Immanuel, God with us always! Blessings!
Thank you so much!
Pastor Pete, I join you in prayer for Melinda, Chris, and the extended family. In challenging times, knowing the truth that nothing can touch my life without first being filtered through the hands of Almighty God has provided comfort. It’s not easy, but it shifts my perspective to trusting His Sovereignty and Grace which is sufficient in all circumstances. Thanks for sharing this privilege to be an intercessor for the family.
Thank you for your prayers Manette. It is so appreciated.
I’m so sorry to hear this, Pete. I’ll be praying for Melinda, and for Chris – and for you and your wife as well. May all of you feel the peace and strength of the Lord in a very deep way during this time.
Thank you Patty. She was doing so well then this came out of nowhere.
Those surprises are so difficult to handle. Love to all of you, and prayers.
A song I hope may bless and encourage:
Thank you Manette. Links to youtube don’t seem to work in the comments. Can you just let me know what song and by who and I will look it up.
Hmm, thats interesting to note. I can play them. I’m certain you know the song but this artist’s version is unique. I don’t think most have heard their medley it adds an additional verse that is a Scripture blessing in the middle. It’s “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” it is linked to my last post by clicking the song title in the body of my post.
Oh very nice! I that was a real blessing and a great post as well. Thank you.
Melinda and all your family are in my prayers, Pete. Blessings!
Thank you Bruce prayers are sincerely appreciated. I will update as I can.

Pastor Pete, know that I’ll be lifting Melinda and your family up in my prayers. A year or so back you had mentioned in a post that your daughter-in-law was ill. For whatever reason that stuck with me and I added “Pastor Pete’s daughter-in-law” to my daily prayer list. Now I have a name and beautiful face to remember as I pray.
Thank you so much Beth.
I put Melinda on my prayer list as well Pete. We have so much to catch up on with so many people. Might take hundreds of years…someday it will all make sense, the pains as well as the miracles.
For me…under the surface of today’s post I process a lot with music. Either singing for others or alone with the door closed just playing quietly. It all settles into a sort of order and peace. Thanks for the words and prayers.
