In case anyone hasn’t watched any television recently, we here in Florida are in for a doosie of a hurricane named Ian! So of course as we were finishing up our morning men’s prayer meeting the storm was central to our conversation. Just then my friend interrupted our small talk and suggested we turn to Psalm 46. This morning that passage took on a whole new meaning for us.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though tye earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. Psalm 46:1-2 NIV
Well we don’t have even one mountain in our whole state, but huge swaths of real estate are predicted to be under the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Some of us are evacuating inland, others stocking up on water and gas for their generators. But no matter where we decide to go we can rest assured that God is very present in this our troubled time.

Pastor Pete, I pray God is merciful to you and your family. A truly fitting scripture for your preparations.
Thank you for your prayers. We are headed further inland tomorrow. They are saying that Landfall will be sometime around Wednesday night -but exactly where no one is quite sure.
I’m praying for your safety and for minimal – or no – damage. Psalm 46 is perfect for this situation. May each of you feel the very present help of God, Pete.
Thank you, for your prayers Patty. We are not in a panic but are fairly busy with prep for our trip. We are just moving inland about an hour, which should get us away from the worst flooding and wind damage and the rest will be just trusting God to work things out that are beyond our control.
Prayer for you, your wife, and all your Sunshine residents.
Thank you. Yes there are so many vulnerable older people who almost cannot be moved. Fortunately backup generators are mandatory here and all the facilities I know of are inland far enough to be out of the evacuation zone.
Praying for all y’all down there, especially on the west coast of the state.
Yahweh will provide.
❤️& 🙏, Pastor Pete

Thanks for the prayers. Yes that is where we live though we have moved into my cousin’s winter place which is further inland. We packed up and moved here this morning.
Perfect passage…your friend is wise
