This is The Day

One of our favorite verses in memory care is Psalm 118:24. I tell my friends that when the doctor asks them “What day is it today?” that they simply need to answer, “This is the day that the Lord has made!” So, when I finished working on my new song, ” This is the Day.” I felt it would be only right to record it with my friends at Sunshine Home this morning. I hope you will like this simple song and that it will lift your spirits today. With all that is going on in our country and our world it is a great encouragement for us to know that – “This is the day that the Lord has made!”

This is the Day

That is the day When the angels sang out
As shepherds watched over their sheep
So they hurried to find - down in Bethlehem town
The Babe in a manger asleep

This is the day that the Lord has made
Let us be glad and rejoice
This is His day – Yes this is His day
Yes this is the day that He made

And when they were hungry Jesus took the five loaves
And gave thanks then He gave them away
And the miracle happened as it passed hand to hand
And five thousand were fed on that day

This is the day that the Lord has made
Let us be glad and rejoice
This is His day – Yes this is His day
Yes this is the day that He made

Then on the night in dark Gethsemane
When Jesus knelt and He prayed
And He carried the Cross to the top of the hill
Yes this – Yes this is the day

When He carried His cross to the top of the hill
And then in the grave He was laid
Till on Sunday morn when the He rose from the dead!
Yes this is the day The Lord made!

This is the day that our God has made
Let us be glad and rejoice
This is His day – Yes this is His day
So to Jesus we lift up our voice

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

    • Thank you Beth. I love the verse behind this song and had the words more or less complete more than a month ago. The melody was a longer process and I am glad you like it.
