One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4 ESV
My favorite people to sing with are my Thursday morning friends in the memory care wing of Sunshine Christian Home. We had a great group this week and they totally loved singing “Up From the Grave He Arose!” In Psalm 27 David asks the Lord for the right to dwell in the House of the Lord –ALL- the days of his life. All our days includes when we are older, weaker and frail. Even in those years God loves coming alongside and delights in giving us a song! If you have not yet known the blessing of serving in Nursing Home Ministry you are missing out. There is a wonderful connection of the blessing that God wants to pass from one generation to the next! I hope you enjoy hearing their voices as we sing my absolute favorite Easter Hymn. Blessings all!

What a wonderful ministry. Your writings about those beautiful souls are evidence of how deeply God indwells the believer (even when the memory fades)..
Thanks so much. I totally love singing with my friends. They remember me (mostly) and they remember the words to the hymns. I pray that more people could see this and realize there are facilities only minutes away with a mission field as rich as any on the planet.
My husband worked at a similar facility for a couple of years. The rest of us volunteered every chance we got. I miss it.
When ever I see you doing this, I think of Jesus words, “as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me,” in Matthew 25.
Oh I love that verse! It is on the back of the card we have for Heart of Christ Nursing Home ministry. Together we can do so much more for Him.
Oh how beautiful Pastor Pete! You and your memory care choir must bring such a smile the Lord’s face each time you gather to sing His praises.
Thanks Beth. It is a joyful privilege to sing with my friends. I sometimes wonder what it will be like when we meet in heaven.
