Who’s in Your Neighborhood? * 10 Minute Devotional

I love this idea of God in our neighborhood. I couldn’t have said this better so I didn’t. Here’s Courtney’s wonderful take. Thanks. Courtney for sharing!

I’ve been thinking a lot about neighbors lately. Since having Baby #3 I’ve been home most of the time, doing the myriad of things a baby requires–nursing, laundry, diapers, diapers, diapers. Rather than my usual on-the-go days, it’s been a quieter, slower season.

This home-centered pause has given me time to notice things about our neighborhood I would usually be too busy to see. I’m grateful.

Turns out our neighbor across the street leaves early for work. Early. As in, the sun’s not up early. Some mornings I’m rocking the baby in the living room when I see his tail lights brighten and his car pull from the driveway.

Down at the end of the cul-de-sac, neighbors who have always been shy have come out to play more often, talking and sharing their stories while our kids mingle at our feet.

My wife and I serve as members of a worship team at a multicultural church. Our members are from Brazil, Nepal and the U.S.. Because of the many languages and cultures in our local body we face unique challenges, such as how many songs will we do in English today? What new songs can we use in either language that are simple enough for the people to sing. The songs, the devotions and insights here are a small portion of some of the ways God is leading us as we push towards the goal. I pray that these will be both a blessing and an encouragement for those of you who may pass by Praise 2 Worship.
