For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 ESV
I still remember the first time I served communion at one of the facilities that I visit here in Florida. I felt nervous because I wasn't sure who could receive because of dietary restrictions or their particular beliefs about communion. But as the Holy Spirit continued to impress on my heart the need to offer this as one of the essential ordinances of the church, I pressed ahead. After our meeting, one of the residents thanked me and said with tears, "Thank you so much. This is the first time I have been able to have communion in over a year!" If you are in any way involved in long-term care ministry, even if that means simply visiting people in their homes, I urge you to prayerfully consider bringing the Lord's Supper to our brothers and sisters who can no longer easily go to church. Here in this simple video, you will notice that the message is Biblical, complete and shared in less than four minutes. Then, while the elements are being passed, I sing two of the precious older hymns that reflect on the holiness of the moment. I hope you will be blessed, and if you want to learn more about nursing home ministry, please consider subscribing to our YouTube channel or following me here on WordPress. Have a blessed day everyone!
When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
Wondrous Cross and I Surrender
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1 ESV
Surrendering all, is one of my favorite hymns and yet each time I sing it, that surrender looks a little different. The apostle Paul makes the point to the Roman church that we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. This type of surrendering is not a one-time thing. This surrender begins every morning when we open our eyes, sit up in bed and put our feet on the floor. The direction those feet walk is a daily choice to follow Jesus. Wondrous Cross reminds us that when Jesus died on the cross, it was a long painful surrender. He had to keep surrendering, from the moment of His arrest in the garden, through the trial, the scourging and the crushing weight of the cross He was forced to carry. I know that we all face some days when life seems too heavy to bear. That is when we need to remember that Jesus surrendered Himself as a living sacrifice for us and then humbly take up our cross again and follow Him.

God Shines His Light
For God, who said, Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 ESV
When God shines on the outside He gives us His hope, but when He shines on the inside He gives us His challenge to live with the love of Jesus towards others. I shared a part of this earlier this week in a devotional, about how light can reveal some very unpleasant things – (Like big ugly bugs!)

This time around I take a slightly different look in the video. for this week. Also included are the songs – He Keeps Me Singing, Do Lord Oh Do Remember Me and When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (One of my favorites). My prayer is that we can all stay so focused on Jesus that He will begin replacing some of our, not so pretty selfish motivations with His servant’s heart of love today!
