What’s On the Menu?

We have friends on the Keto diet, others on a gluten free menu and a few going the sugar free path. Our get-togethers can be tricky if you’re the one trying to figure out what to serve so everyone will be happy. Though I am not a big fan (or even a little one!) of fancy diet plans I respect my friends even though I tease them sometimes. Now, diets are something we can be picky about but today’s verse tells us that we should be as choosy about what words come out of our mouths as what foods we put in them.

I don’t know what you are facing this morning or what fears stand in your path. This passage from Psalm 34 has been one of my go-to scriptures when I have felt overwhelmed by my own problems. I have found that after clinging to God’s words in the darkest situations that they become more precious and real the next time I face them. Have a blessed Sunday. No matter what is on your menu remember that you can still choose to bless the Lord. His daily bread is on your table and He sends it fresh out of Heaven’s oven every morning for you!

When We Always Praise

I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1 ESV

I love taking early morning walks as an extension of my quiet time with God. I especially enjoy watching and taking photos of all the different birds as they begin their days. Some stand by the pond fishing, while others peck at the ground searching for their breakfast. Though Florida is famous for its Flamingos, Cranes and Pelicans, our state bird is actually the Mocking bird. They are plentiful, boisterous and most of all, they love to sing.

Seeing one singing loudly in my neighbor’s tree yesterday, reminded me that whether my little bird friend understands it or not, his songs give glory to God. No matter what the weather he never quits! As I listened and I remembered that in my own, life others will be a whole lot more likely to listen to what I have to say, if I persistently give God praise. Here is my little poem today as a testament to my tiny feathered friend and to God who at all times is worthy of our praise! May you have a blessed and praise filled day!

When We Always Praise

He sits upon the highest branch

And gives His tune to God

Through wind and rain in heat and snow

He thinks it very odd

That anyone would only sing

On quiet sunny days

And miss all that God has in store

When we always give Him praise

The Garden of the King

It is finally really summer and my Tiger Lilies and Shrub Roses are busy giving God glory with their soundless shouts of praise. They do not worry who has been planted near them or what could happen to them tomorrow. They are simply delighted with each day given. I believe that it is because somewhere written in their DNA is the knowledge that they are blooming in the garden of the King!
