If God Cares For Birds

The sparrow safely finds his home
And the swallow builds her nest
In God’s house they find a place
They can hide when troubles press

So if God cares for little birds
And by His hands they’re blessed
How much more will He keep us
Who to Jesus run for rest?

Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
    my King and my God.

Psalm 84:3 ESV

The Cardinal’s Tune

Lord this world seems so big
And I’m here so small
And to this song that you gave me
No one’s listening at all

But when I looked out the door
To a tree down my street
I saw one red cardinal
At the top take his seat

And with all of his might
He sang out God’s tune
Then flew off in a hurry
He still had so much to do!

A Little Daffodil

A little yellow daffodil
Was born one April day
And with a smile poked out her head
And shouted, “Spring! Hooray!”

I’ve come to open up my blooms
No time to waste or hide
And Then I have to grow my leaves
And stretch roots on every side

But when the sun was called to bed
And soft shadows came to creep
Our little tired daffodil
Laid down her head to sleep

“O child” God said and gently smiled
“I know there’s lots to do
But now just resting in my arms
Is what is best for you!”
