Time to Be Thankful

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:15-16 KJV

We have time to eat turkey
And time to have  our pie
Time to watch some football
And for buying stuff on line

But for everything God gave us
Will we take time to say “Thanks”
Or just argue over politics
And a film that stars Tom Hanks?

But if Jesus is the center
Of all we do and say
Then truly we can celebrate
This Good Thanksgiving Day!

In Your goodness through this day
Show us what to do and say
With your kindness and your love
Fill our hearts Lord from above

And when sunlight’s almost gone
We pray dear God You lead us on
And shine your word through all the night
To lead us home till morning light!

Before Its Shadows Flee

There’ll be no more dirty feet to wash
Or tears to wipe away
No more chance to say, “Forgiven.”
To a son who’s lost his way

Oh yes the Lord will light our world
As our praises fill the air
But our chance to reach the lost
Is not an option there

Why do we wish for heaven so?
It’s time is soon to be
Right now we have a day to give
Before its shadows flee

 Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, I will go 
away to the mountain of myrrh and the hill of frankincense.
