Our Own Race

To run the laps of others
and to walk down every street
God has not promised blessings
Nor His might when problems greet

But His strength is for the weary
And His power to us is given
Through every long and lonely lap
On our own race to Heaven

He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Isaiah 40:29 ESV

Before We Had Faces

Before we had faces
And we had no voice at all
Then no one else could see us
When we were small – small – small

God took the plans He’d made
And put them out to see
To show to all the pattern
He would use for you and me

Then stamped His image on our hearts
And signed the bottom line
So we would be delivered
Just exactly in His time!

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Psalm 139:13 NIV

To Simplest Hearts

God has chosen us to show
His mystery Of long ago
When He was born
Where shepherds bow
And cattle fed
And roosters crowed
To simplest hearts
His glory know!

He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;
Luke 1:51-52 ESV
