Hope of Heaven

I see myself at heaven’s door

I can hear its hinges creak

Around its frame a light shines out

As it opens before the King

 

What have you brought He asks

From the life you lived on earth?

Oh not a lot I sadly say

As I struggle to begin

Light at Night

Well, there were the mission’s trips

And every day I prayed

And regularly I read your word

And all the tithes I gave

 

When I stopped – he paused and gently said

That’s not why angels sing

Those were not from your deepest heart

But just temporary things

 

But the forgiveness you gave your parents

When their divorce left you alone

And the love you shared with strangers

When you opened up your home

And the tears of repentance that you wept

And your confession in the dark

These are the things that I truly treasure

And for these there is a crown

 

 

 

On the Mountain with Him

Mountain climbing is a process not just an experience. Bear mountain in Connecticut may not measure up in size against the Rockies but the view from the firetower at the summit is spectacular. I can still almost taste the wild blueberries and the pinkish white of the laurels is still unfaded in my mind. But on the day when Peter, James and John followed Jesus up the mount of transfiguration their view of life was changed for eternity. They saw now that their friend and teacher with whom they had walked for years was the only holy beloved Son of God!

Some views can not be explained they must be seen on the mountain alone with Him. Has He called you ito the process of climbing a difficult mountain trail? Your view at the summit will be worth it!

Eternal Returns

I got short changed at the farmers market. I lost my leys in the parking lot(I think). We went through the train museum at a run and I am still a little sore from surgery. What a great day! But if I had spent the day alone and come home with my keys my money and my rest I would have missed out on a slice of God’s love. I am thankful because any day with our grandchildren is an investment with eternal returns!
