Discovering Home Again

Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Psalm 84:3 ESV

Our short visit back home in Pennsylvania is one of those touchstones of our year. The quiet hills and hidden wildflowers greet us and tell us that we are one year older. They ask us where we have been and why we waited so long to return. We drink in the silence and walk the familiar gravel roads, and thank God we are home again. I do hope you enjoy these glimpses of my favorite spots.

The Bear Went Over the Mountain

On the top of the mountain sits Springfield Farm where I’ve been a caretaker for over 25 years. I’ve seen and photographed. hawks, geese, a blue Heron, all sorts of butterflies and deer but never a bear. Last night our friends came upon as this full grown black bear went for an evening stroll. He just quietly ambled by within about 50 feet of their truck and then crossed over the road, through the soybean field and down into the deep woods! There are times when God says “Be Still” so that He can show us something. Maybe I have spent 25 years rushing around too much, but I am grateful for friends shared their photos and experience with me!

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
