God in Hiding

And I will wait upon the Lord , that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
Isaiah 8:17 KJV

As I drove up the road this week I was greeted by a mother deer with two fawns. They lingered just long enough for me to snap a few shots then bounded off to a hidden place in the woods.

But God does not hide His face in that way. In fact it is our own sin and selfishness that hides his face from our eyes. No in fact our greatest hope is in a God who longs to be found!

Sunrise – Sunset

Maybe you never stopped to think that as our world turns our sunset happens at the exact instant a beautiful dawn is breaking somewhere. That is what the apostle Paul is telling his dear friends. While his own life hastened towards a sunset of suffering the dawn of the light of God”s life was beginning in theirs.

God puts that free choice in each of our hands. The tighter we cling to our own life the less chance we will have of setting on fire the torch of faith in others!

So death is at work in us, but life in you. 2 Corinthians 4:12 ESV

Desert Blooms

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; Isaiah 35:1 ESV

It is a beautiful sight when a rose garden gives off its fragrance and is filled with blossoms of many colors. That is what our lives are like when God has poured out His blessing and we praise Him

But when dry winds dry out the soil of our garden till it turns hard and barren then a blossom is not a blessing: it becomes God’s miracle!
