Master There Is Still More!

Master There is Still More!

As people filled the hall Mary trembled at the door

Holding tight the fragile jar that held her treasure store

Her eyes ran searching, looking close as she softly crossed the floor

Then with the box of alabaster came and stood behind the Lord

She broke the seal and on his head perfumed oil began to pour

The crowd fell silent as the fragrance gently filled the air

“Why this waste?” one man exclaimed why not feed the poor?

But Mary looked up to His face and said “Master, there is still more!”

Then effortlessly with a joy she knelt to wash his feet

And wiped them with her hair then smiled her worship now complete

But with righteous indignation soon the people harshly asked

Just think of all that we could buy with the spikenard from that flask!

But Mary only paused to fix her wet and loosened hair

Then waited calmly at His feet by the broken empty jar

And in response her Master said that they’d always have the poor

Who could be fed on any day yet, they would not have Him much more

So tell this story always of how she has blessed her Lord

When she poured her perfume on my head

Then said,kimg2590

“Master there is still more!”

One Christmas Amazed

One Christmas Amazed

There’s a Christmas for Santa

And a Christmas for Elves

And a Christmas for stores

That are filling their shelves

There’s Christmas on TV

And for fresh falling snow

And trees decorated with lights that can glow

But in the midst of the ruckus that is filling our lanes

Is there room for the Child

Who gave Christmas its name?

Is there space at our table for a forgotten lost son?

Is there a place on our lists for someone with no home?

Is there hope in our hearts for the broken and shamed?

Or are we too busy to remember their names?

As you put up your tree then on top place the star

That remembers the kings who came from so far

Who knelt and rejoiced back in old Bethlehem

As they opened their gifts in their worship for Him

Take a moment to pray with a heart full of praise

For on Christmas was born God’s true grace that amazed

Poem One Christmas Amazed  by Peter Caligiuri 2016

We’ll Meet Face to Face

We’ll Meet Face to Face

Am I learning to be thankful in the way you told me to?

To have that true and faithful heart that trusts the whole day through?

Will I walk with blinders on seeing just my own small world?

Or can I find the grace and strength to bind another’s wounds?

When weakness looms I pull the shades and double lock my door

No limping step, no bleeding lip, no bruises cuts or sores

No fever hot, no icy chills, no loss of any kind

Will I accept within my home just sweet and sunny times

Yet in the silence of the night when sleep is sliding by

I awake with faith and doubt engaging in a fight

The Spirit stirs and takes a stand while flesh just moans and sighs

Then in my weakest moment when I feel I can’t keep on

My Savior stoops and picks me up and holds me in His arms

Son you see these troubles come

While we are in this world

There is a Battle in your soul

To turn you from the goal

But set your eyes upon the prize

That pearl of greatest price

Is waiting for you in my hands

When we meet face to face
