Even Through the Days of Rain

Aches and pains knocked on my door
And stayed an hour yesterday
Like every uninvited guest
They demanded their own way 

Just as I wondered what was next
 They tired of their game
And slipped out then down the street
Leaving quiet here again

So, I begged God "Please lock my door
Before they come to stay!"
But He answered only "Robins sing
 Even through the days of rain."

But I am afflicted and in pain;
    let your salvation, O God, set me on high!
I will praise the name of God with a song;
    I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:29-30 ESV

Or that special time of year
And not just a Silent Night
With shepherds drawing near

But the birth of God’s own child
And the hope His presence gives
For when our life has slipped away

Footprints of Mercy and Grace

Are goodness and mercy the things that I seek
From Jesus my Shepherd today?
His emerald- green pastures and quiet pure streams
That encourage and guide in His way

And when I look back at the trail of the past
And those who are following me
Will they discover a Christ who is kind
And whose gentleness sets others free?

Or in my hurry while running so fast
Have I trampled hearts in my race?
Oh, that I would walk so that others could see
His footsteps of mercy and grace!

His goodness and mercy shall follow me
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever
