The Good Day God Has Given

Why not wake with joy to greet
The good day God has given?
Like Mourning Doves and Cardinals
Each with a song from Heaven

Red winged blackbirds in the field
The swallow on her nest
Each sing with their own special voice
As God has chosen best

And once the hours have passed and they
Towards home begin their flight
They find a place to rest and sleep
In their good Maker’s care all night!

This is the day that the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 ESV

I’ll See You in the Morning

“I will see you in the morning.”
I heard Him say to me
“In the morning, we will meet there.”
After night and what will be

And still His words kept echoing
Through all the afternoon
While busying with this and that
Till shadows filled the room

And I heard as if a dream again
His morning promise dear
Then quietly I kneeled in prayer
So I could clearly hear

Yes, I’m longing for that sunrise
When he shakes me from my sleep
And He shows me by unfailing love
He will His promise keep

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

The Miracle of Grace

By the ordinary washing
Of dirty hands and feet
And doing laundry one more time
In the simple food we eat

And in sparrows and in lilies
He came to show His ways
With the ordinary manna
His mighty love displays

And He walks with us each morning
Though we may not see His face
And reminds us that He gave His life
In ordinary miracles of grace

We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”
Numbers 11:5-6 ESV
