Ducks and Eagles
Way up in the sky
 Eagle soars all alone
Far from the mud below
Flying high in the blue
He thinks it is true
That he’s the best bird in the show
Â
While down at the farm
 Ducky waddles along
With his tribe by the edge of the stream
Leading them on
To the cool water’s edge
Where their dirty feet
Can be washed clean
Now that I your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you should also wash one another’s feet            John 13:14 NIV

Late for Lunch
Â
 I’ve no questions only answers
Ducky said to Dad one day
I’ll show you I’m the smartest one
Why should I do what you say?
Â
Then Raccoon heard his boast and paused
 And slyly licked his paws
He walked down to the water’s edge
 And stood to give applause
When Ducky heard the sound he looked
And saw Raccoon’s smiling eyes
How wise this creature Ducky thought
To see where greatness lies
Â
But sadly by next day at noon
Ducky didn’t show for lunch
Where he was off to no one knew
But his father had a hunch!

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Now that we’ve been in Florida for a while I look back and remember the worst part of Winter up North was not the snow and ice but the constant grey skies with a splash of chilly wind. In light of the grey skies and chilly wind we’ve all come through in 2020 I thought I’d begin with some gentle humor in verse with hopes it will brighten your day and shine a little light on the beginning of your 2021.
Ears
Only ears can hear
That’s just the way God made us
If ears could see or hear
They’d certainly betray us
Â
But when God fashioned ears
Those humble awkward things
That flop about and wiggle
On little inner springs
Â
He made a way to tell us
How much we’d been forgiven
And then He set and tuned them
To hear His words from heaven
Â
Oh - only ears can hear
That’s just the way God made them
Humble listening gifts
That lead us to obey Him
