John 3:16

For God

The Only God

Who saw the dark and said – Let there be light!

So loved the world That He gave

The Loving God

Who chose before we were born

To be involved in our lives

His only Son

The Word of God

Made not only light

But breathe and life

For us

That whosoever believes in Him

The faithful God

Who looks beyond

Every human difference

Every division and failure

To see our hearts and needs

Would not perish

The Living God

Who is never weary

Invites us to drink

From His river that

Flows from heaven’s throne

But Have Everlasting Life

The Eternal God who dries every tear

Heals every sickness and forgives every sin

By the blood of Jesus Christ!

Nursing Home Week

If you are not involved with Nursing home ministry you may not know but this week is national nursing home week in America. I would love to see many more people getting connected with nursing home ministry but not for the wrong reasons. We don’t go just because we feel sad or sorry for people. We go as an expression of the love of Christ. Nursing homes are not just a location, they are a needed part of our community.  People who live in nursing homes carry the memories, experiences and wisdom of an entire generation that is entering the final chapter of their lives. The most important part of any story is its conclusion and we stand in danger of missing it if we forget them.

If you would consider getting involved in nursing home outreach where you live but aren’t sure where to begin then Nursing Home Ministry – The Heart of Jesus Christ

is a resource that offers an inspirational look into the basics. Nursing Home Ministry thumbnailYou may feel you don’t have a lot to give but Jesus told us that if we gave even a cup of cold water in His name we would be doing something of value to God. God has given each of us a cup and it doesn’t matter the size or shape of our cup. What matters is if we are willing to give it away!

How Did Noah Build The Ark?

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord Genesis 6:8

For those who have not made it to see the Ark Encounter it may be difficult to imagine not only the size, but also the tremendous amount of details involved in the ark. God’s instructions were clear on the dimensions and to make a window and a door. The rest of the thousands of decisions as to exactly how to build the ark were left up to Noah. How did he do it? God doesn’t tell us much but we know one thing about Noah: He found grace in the eyes of the Lord!

In the same way Jesus has given us His clear commandment: Love one another:

He wasn’t specific on the details of our obedience to this important mission. He is trusting us to fill in the blanks each and every day with the exciting, challenging and sometimes downright complicated outworking of that obwdience.

If you are struggling at times like I am with learning to love don’t be discouraged. There is one wonderful reason one reason to not give up and walk away: Grace!  By God’s grace we can figure it out just like Noah. It is a gigantic task but by grace, the love of Christ in us is up to the task!

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19
