Just Wait a Minute!

“If you can wait and not be tired by waiting” Rudyard Kipling

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!         Psalm 27:14

Not long ago I had eye surgery and contrary to my expectations the first three days of recovery were extremely painful. It was a pain deeper than the surface and there was no where to go to get away from it. Everything was normal about the procedure but I just had to wait. I hate to wait; but I have discovered that the only thing worse than waiting on God, is not waiting on God! What are you waiting for that only God can heal tonight? Abide in Him and He will bring it to pass!

No Fear in Love!

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 1 John 4:18

Have you ever stopped to wonder what you are afraid of? I know I do more often than I would like. I am afraid of Dentists, flying, death and decisions. I am afraid of losing loved ones and I am afraid of being alone when they are gone. Of course none of these are reasonable fears at all by the Bible’s standards. I am just saying these are my own battles.

The Bible also tells us to pray about everything so as I was praying about my fears, God spoke to my heart with a question this morning. “Are you afraid to pray?” As I thought about that the absurdity of it hit me in the face. If I was afraid to pray then I wouldn’t be praying! And I am not afraid to pray because I remember that Jesus taught me to begin praying with the words, “Our Father.” So why would God listen to my prayer? Why would He be willing to allow me (Or anyone else) come to Him with my problems, needs and desires?

The answer is wrapped up in the mystery of the God of love and the love of God! If that very same God of love who sent Jesus to teach us to pray is interested in listening to me; how much more because of the cross of Jesus Christ will He be ready to receive me when one day we stand before His throne?

Be blessed! Have a great prayer time with your Father today. We can live without fear because when we come to Him – He will cast out all we are afraid of and replace it with His perfect love!

The Battle is the Lord’s

All of us have battles from time to time. Most of us also can testify that some of them we have lost – but be encouraged: the war isn’t over! Before David became king he faced a battle with Goliath. At the beginning of the fight Goliath loudly spouts off about how great his strength is and how weak and puny David seems. Goliath boasted because he had never come face to face with the power of God.

David waited patiently for the giant  to finish his flowery speech. He was completely assured of victory going into his fight because he had walked with God while he took care of his father’s sheep. He didn’t need special training or special equipment to prepare him. His experience of trusting God when nobody was looking had taught him that God always came through in a crisis. So when David replied it was not just a boast. He simply and unashamedly told the truth. His battle belonged to the Lord.

We often think of Jesus entering in our hearts at the time of salvation. Maybe we think of it as a completed transaction. But Jesus is knocking at our heart’s door every day. Our choice is whether we will we invite Him in to take control. If we ask Him to take charge of every detail of our lives, we will discover that our battles also belong to Him.

Whatever you are facing today remember that Jesus is still knocking. When you open your door to Him, He will fight any giant and give the victory and peace to your heart right now!

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
