Cloudy Day

Do you know how the clouds are balanced, Those wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge? Job 37:16

As we are preparing to begin the road towards Florida I thought I’d take some farewell photos of my beloved farm (not mine exactly but the one I have managed for 25 years. Wouldn’t you know it but my big chance for lots of spectacular endless mountain scenery ended up as a cloudy day.

But even with clouds it is still an amazing place. It is so hard to imagine not seeing these hills, muddy roads, quiet streams and fields.

Nothing grows easily in this hard rocky clay soil but grass, trees, corn and people with roots deep enough to keep them from being blown off the mountain ridges!

But whatever road God leads us on He has promised to be with us. What better scenery than the horizon that God has chosen is there? He has promised to watch over, walk along side and care for our needs in whatever place He chooses for us to call home!

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26

The Bear Went Over the Mountain

On the top of the mountain sits Springfield Farm where I’ve been a caretaker for over 25 years. I’ve seen and photographed. hawks, geese, a blue Heron, all sorts of butterflies and deer but never a bear. Last night our friends came upon as this full grown black bear went for an evening stroll. He just quietly ambled by within about 50 feet of their truck and then crossed over the road, through the soybean field and down into the deep woods! There are times when God says “Be Still” so that He can show us something. Maybe I have spent 25 years rushing around too much, but I am grateful for friends shared their photos and experience with me!

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

Sleeping in Harvest?

More years ago than I care to share I remember helping friends with putting up hay. Though they had begun early in the morning the 1700 bale count was just too many for them to finish alone. The hay was perfect and lay in endless numbers on the field but on the horizon loomed dark thunderstorms. At hearing of their dilemma over the phone we jumped into our pick-up truck and sped across miles of dirt roads to help. What fun we had that night as we pitched in to help our tired friends. At 2 a.m. the rain finally came but just 50 bales still lay outside the barn.

Today there is also a harvest and there are hearts ready to be gathered into the Father’s barn. There is also a storm on the horizon and it is coming our way. Are we willing to give all to see as many as possible brought safely in or will we hang up the phone and go to sleep for the night?
