24 Hours

Just 24 hours is what we have today

Just 1,440 Minutes To do and speak and pray

86,400 seconds fly and never come again

Our 24 hours are passing and just memories remain

The words we choose to speak will forever echo on

And What we choose to do can never be undone

But hope and faith and goodness

And a Helper always true

Gives your 24 long hours

God’s light to shine in you!

Our Heavenly Country

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16 ESV

Two months ago few of us bothered to worry much about our seemingly invincible economy or give more than a second thought to  some medieval plague striking from out of the blue.  But since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic many of us have  been  rudely awakened to just how fragile our American dream really is. In my own personal experience I discovered that the house we had just put on the market, could not be shown to anyone. The visit to see our grandson’s graduation was cancelled and our 47th anniversary dinner (Tomorrow) is going to be take-out from Olive Garden.

But no matter our experience in this crisis, what the Apostle Paul tells us still holds true.

For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling. 2 Corinthians 5:2

I am not saying that the sufferings our friends, family and neighbors are passing through don’t matter. What I am discovering is that I have had my eyes focused on things of only temporary value while rarely remembering what matters most. But now that Heavenly country shines brighter than ever and it is not only for me but for anyone who will trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. On the cross Jesus has purchased for us a home with no taxes due, no repairs scheduled and which will never go up for sale. All He has asked us to do is to point others to a place that is better than our American dream. It is our heavenly country where what matters most will never pass away! Have a great week everyone. God bless and stay safe!

Early One Morning

In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. Matthew 28:1 KJV

The women came so early that the sun had not yet crested the horizon. They came not in eager anticipation of seeing Jesus but with sorrow prepared for a final good-bye. They little realized but what was far beyond anything they could have hoped for, had already accomplished. The tomb stood open and empty, because Jesus had already risen from the dead!

The wonderful news for us is that in our own lives the resurrection of Jesus has also come with unexpected hope. Before even the first shaft of sunlight can chase away our shadows God wants us to discover that He has already done everything we need! All that remains for us to do is come. Come if you feel heavy with grief and confusion. If it everything that was precious feels like it has disappeared He calls you to the place where He once lay. There is a miracle to be found beyond anything you can imagine. There is a day about to dawn that will challenge your doubts and drive off every fear. There is something beyond all our hopes and infinitely higher than our dreams. Jesus Christ is alive. He rose from the grave and He is watching for us to walk up the pathway. He is waiting to meet us if we will just come early in the morning because a new day is just beginning to dawn!
