Happy or Sad?

Sometimes church gets filled up with all kinds of different people who for all kinds of different reasons want tp come see Jesus. Do we feel happy or sad when we find someone else sitting in our pew? Will we go home joyful ot irritated if lots of different folks show up to worship? God so loved the world- the whole world that He gave His only Son. How will we respond when a small breeze of change begins blowing through our church? Why not check to see if our spiritual doors and windows locked? God wants to send a mighty rushing wing to fill His house. Be ready because God loves to use all kinds of people from all kinds of places to build His church!

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”
John 12:19 NKJV

Still Waters!

Does your life feel sometimes more like a roaring waterfall than a quiet stream? Then remember that it is through the cascading circumstances of waterfalls and whitewater rapids that rivers remain clean. Impurities are removed and fresh life giving oxygen added. There at the base of the waterfall the water rests. There is the purest and best place to drink.

If today you feel the roughness of life’s current battering you against sharp rocks don’t give in to fear. Your Good Shepherd is still keeping His promises and on the other side of sorrow and disappointment lie still waters. There He will give us a clear cold cup to drink that will refresh our soul! That is the place He prepares us for the adventures that still lies ahead!

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Psalms 23:2 NKJV

Alley Cats

In our back alley we have the blessing of stray cats, one of whom seems to have adopted me. I have come home on various occasions to find him sleeping contentedly on the front porch or at my back door step. Though I have never fed this cat, he acts confidently like a member of the family! I used to gently chase him out of the yard but he always returned. We have a sort of truce. I don’t get worked up over his presence and he just moves on to the next house after his nap!

Problems come into every one of our lives like my alley cat. Getting angry, stressed out or shocked doesn’t faze him. No matter what, because he lives in our neighborhood he will keep coming back. He comes to see if I will feed him or invite him in. But instead of freaking out I remind myself that wherever there are alley cats the mice are few and far between! Problems pass through our lives for a purpose. So if tribulation shows up at your doorstep this morning don’t fall into despair. It is all a part of God’s plan for our good. Instead look up because His everlasting hope is on the horizon!

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3‭-‬4 NKJV
