Were the songs familiar? How many people were in church today? What did our friends think about the service?
True confession time…all those thoughts made their way through my mind today. I sat in my seat, gave my offering and even sang every song. But did I really worship today? And if I didn’t worship then what exactly was I doing? As I get older I pray I would simply be more honest with God and others. Jesus told the Samaritan woman that God is looking for real true worshippers. Worshipping God truly must begin with being true, telling the truth and obeying the things that He truly asks me to do. When I really truly worship Him then He will really truly seek me and teach me how to worship him more!
Whether we like it or not all of us are a bit like cookie dough. Unlike cookie dough however God gives us the choice about which shape we get pressed into. Why not let Jesus determine the form of our hearts?
Waiting for God is not like waiting for the train. It is no more passive than Usain Bolt waiting to begin a race. It is a race he has prepared for mentally, physically and emotionally. In the silence of the breathe before the starter’s gun there is a waiting power. All the passion to run the steps that lead to the finish line fill his heart as he waits knowing that victory lies ahead. How much more should we as children who run toward heaven’s finish line wait with joy to run our race.
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
