Invisible Things

In the storms of life when the shore is nowhere to be found we find ourselves stripped down to just three eternal things: faith, hope and love. God gives us these treasures: not as a prize to be received in heaven but as a light to guide us through.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13

If you are discouraged or even angry at circumstances that seem to be spinning out of control – trust in God’s promise. He loved us so much that He allowed Jesus to die on a very real cross for a world where men put nails through His hands and feet. When no one yet believed He died in Hope of resurrection. When no kindness was offered to Him He offered heaven to a thief and forgiveness to His enemies. When He drew His final breath He trusted His Spirit into His Father’s hands. How can we be afraid to follow Him? There is no stronger hope on earth than His word. There is no other path that leads to Heaven than faith. There will never be a reward more lasting than the mighty Love of Jesus Christ!

Loving the Unseen God

In John’s gospel He begins with the astonishing statement, In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.

The same God who created light chooses to love us from a hidden darkness through which we can only see by faith. Because we cannot see our Heavenly Father we are pressed deeper each day into an absolute dependence on His word. How I wish some days that I could sit around the campfire with Jesus and ask Him questions and share with Him my longings and fears. But He simply smiles from His secret place even as I write these words and waits for my heart to still. Then in that silence comes springing from a place known only to God that joy no words can tell. Joy unspeakable and full of glory!

Invisible God – Day Two

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory 1 Peter 1:8

Wouldn’t it have been great to see Jesus walking on the waves as Peter did? Don’t you just wish some days you could at least catch  glimpse of God like Moses or ask Jesus  questions like Thomas? Mary got to wash His feet with perfume a

Yes most of us would love to know more details; but by God’s design we are given only His word.  But what a word it is that God has given us! His word is not just the sound of a voice contacting us through sound waves. His word is living and powerful! The word of God is a light that shines in our dark place and it is our shelter from the storm. God’s word is a treasure hidden in a field and it is our pearl of greatest price. The more we struggle to understand Him, the more precious the riches of His word become. I don’t understand all of this plan which God has chosen; but by faith I am walking with my invisible God on His invisible road to His invisible destination!
