This Sunday our beloved daughter-in-law, Melinda was called home to Jesus. We are grieving, but in this time we are trusting God. In these times of sorrow, where even simple conversation can become too painful, God often gives us a song. “It is Well” is for me the hymn that has been precious to my heart in those moments. Whatever you are facing today I pray it’s message may also give you peace and hope. Especially in our sorrows it is more true than ever that God is good all the time and in Jesus Christ, it is well with our soul.

Since Jesus Came Into My Heart
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 ESV
Some people of late, have fallen into the habit of dismissing the sinner’s prayer of asking Jesus into our hearts as non-biblical. But though they are correct that the prayer of asking Jesus into our hearts, is nowhere, word for word recorded in scripture, it embodies in a childlike manner the truth that being a Christian is all about the life change that occurs when we become a Christian. No one can become a Christian without a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. It would be like trying to become the member of a motor cycle gang without ever having ridden a motor cycle! If you would show up at a rally offering to join, the other guys would probably give you a long hard stare, before breaking into hysterical laughter. In the same way you have to know what it means to be a believer by personal experience. No one gets into heaven by osmosis, because of their parent’s faith or by some ritual done for them by someone else. We only be Christians by bowing our knees to Jesus Christ, before the miraculous transformation, by God’s grace can begin in our heart. The words: “I have light in my soul for which long I had sought.” were written by Rufus McDaniel, not long after the tragic loss of his son. In the midst of his grief, Rufus found comfort, strength and grace to go on, and then he passed along to us this cheerful tune, filled with joy, because Jesus had made all the difference! HAs Jesus made a real difference in your life? He can, but it all begins with when we invite Him in, to our hearts and invite Him to sit at our table. Then according to His promise, He will sit down and share a meal and a lifetime with you!
The Snickel’s Family Friend
A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for a time of adversity
Proverb 17:17 NIV
In the Spring of ’86 just as the days were turning warm
With the money they had saved they bought the field above the farm
And as their boys ran through the hayfield, they watched the cows below
Then imagined how their house would look and where the garden ought to go
The Snickels watched their home being built as it took about a year
Then they sorted, prayed and planned when they saw the time growing near
For the move out to the country and to leave their friends behind
Oh, what a great adventure, that they pictured in their mind
But as the seasons came and went, very soon their two boys grew tall
While the garden that they planted filled up the canning jars each Fall
And their work seemed almost endless, so they hardly noticed how things changed
To wake up one day and find their boys lives were being rearranged
The boys left behind their household chores for college and a job
And as the little home grew still, the quiet days just seemed so odd
It seemed like only yesterday when Snickels pancakes filled each plate
Now looking out they watched as now the empty field fill up with flakes
But in their sudden loneliness God spoke His promise true
That through the night however long He'd make each sunrise new
And on the pathway that we walk He keeps close onto the end
And through every year that passes He will be our faithful friend
