Who is the author?

Remember that while God’s church must always be free for all it is never meant to be a free-for-all. God has a clear and simple biblical order and each of us will find ourselves most fully blessed when we find our place in it. If there is a story of confusion and unsubstantiated rumors swirling around at church we ought to stop and ask ourselves. Who is the author?

Happy or Sad?

Sometimes church gets filled up with all kinds of different people who for all kinds of different reasons want tp come see Jesus. Do we feel happy or sad when we find someone else sitting in our pew? Will we go home joyful ot irritated if lots of different folks show up to worship? God so loved the world- the whole world that He gave His only Son. How will we respond when a small breeze of change begins blowing through our church? Why not check to see if our spiritual doors and windows locked? God wants to send a mighty rushing wing to fill His house. Be ready because God loves to use all kinds of people from all kinds of places to build His church!

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”
John 12:19 NKJV

Chance of Thunderstorms

Our local National Day of Prayer event was moved at the last minute by thunderstorms being predicted for exactly the time of the meeting. Because not everyone gets their updates via Facebook a lot less people than hoped for showed up at the alternate venue. We started late. One of the pastors got lost and things seemed a bit shakey. But when we get disorganized and off of our perfectly planned program God delights in surprises.

The Latino worship group from the church where we did meet was great and deftly moved us between Spanish and English during “How great is our God” one lay pastor who does prison ministry filled in for the missing pastor and passionately prayed for the police and first responders. While we lacked in attendance there was no lack of sincerity in our cry to God for our community our nation and our churches. Holding hands in worship and prayers at the end put an exclamation point on God’s presence and made me hungry for more!

Then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert;
