Standing Up For Jesus on Father’s day

Though this video was made specifically with Fathers in mind the story behind the hymn Stand Up for Jesus is amazing. The author’s friend had just that week been forced from his pastorate because of his sermon against slavery. While being out at a farm the following week he died as the result of a freak accident, but his final words encouraging his friend to take a stand for Jesus resulted in the hymn we sing today; Stand up stand up For Jesus. It reminds us that standing for God does not always lead to popularity or success nevertheless it is what Jesus asks. God bless you this week. May God grant each of us the courage and willingness to stand for the truth!

A Moment of Thankfulness

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
I Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV

Yesterday many of us went to parades or picnics on our day off. Maybe we slowed down just enough to recall those who gave their lives for what our flag stands for.

As Americans we love to think of ourselves as independent and free. But it is so easy to fall into selfishness complaining and wishing we had more of what our neighbors have. God waits for thankfulness.

Before rushing off to Dunkin Donuts for coffee and while our hand is reaching for the car keys why not use the moment to find one thing for which we can give thanks? It may not change the headlines but it will change heart.

Pray for America

God bless America. Land that I love.. Stand beside her and guide her through the night with a light from above! Irving Berlin

Having camped out a lot as a teenager I learned in the evening the first star to appear is not a star at all it is the planet Venus. Likewise in the early morning the last light still shining is the very same. That is our Lord Jesus who is both the first and the last and the bright morning star. How we need to pray that His light may shine in our hearts through this dark spiritual night.
