Arms Around the World

A few years back we listened to the author of a book titled “It’s Not About Me”. He spoke at our church on the adventure of choosing the path of risking it all for God and other people. The news reports on Corona virus have tended towards stirring panic as each of us flees for the exits trying to find safe haven. The reality is that beyond normal precautions and a little common sense there is no safe haven in life. We should never allow our lives to be stampeded off the cliff of losing our compassion for others.

Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them and say; “Truly I say to you, as you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me.”

One night recently one of the reporters on the news said we shouldn’t panic about the Corona virus in China because it seems to only kill the old and weak. I confess that I was only half listening and didn’t give it much thought at the time. But the next day as I was singing for people at the nursing home and watching the faces of my precious friends it hit me those old and weak folks that the reporter mentioned are our moms, dads, older brothers and friends.

The Cool of the Day

Here in Florida where we have plenty of warm muggy days to contend with; I love to walk early in the morning. It helps me to gather my thoughts and spend part of my quiet time with God before the sun punches its time clock and begins work for the day. The Bible says that God went looking for Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. The word cool can also be translated wind and it is akin to the breathe of God that hovered over the waters at the beginning of creation. Even before God said; “Let there be light!” the breathe of the Spirit was at work. In that same way if we earnestly seek the presence of Jesus in the cool of each morning He won’t need to come looking to come looking for us!
