No Death Was Not My Plan!

“No death was not my plan” God said 
When Adam chose the names for beasts 
When I in secret fashioned Eve 
While He lay fast asleep 

Now when Spring seems far away 
And under snow the garden sleeps 
Remember that in frozen ground 
The Tulip’s promise keeps 

For as the last frost leaves the earth 
The flower finds its way 
And just as Jesus rose from death 
It breaks through to sunny day!

Before We Had Faces

Before we had faces
And we had no voice at all
When no one else could see us
And we were small – small – small

God pulled out the plans He’d made
And Laid them out to see
And then traced out the pattern
He would use for you and me

First He put in some happy days
To balance days of grief
Then over all he poured His grace
To help our unbelief

And stamped His image on our hearts
Then signed the bottom line
So we would be delivered
Just exactly in His time!

Oh God I Wonder

Oh God I wonder how you know
And why you think of me
When I am busy with small things
And by none other seen

While flowers bloom in back yards
When sparrows feed at dawn
Before our children wake to play
And the dew is on the lawn

You are with me on this pathway
Walking beside through every mile
Showing wounds that say You died for me
So You could call me child

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands;
 and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
