His Footsteps

When my work is feeling endless
And my hope is growing stale
While others run ahead of me
And it seems my dreams have failed

I remember in the garden
While His friends were fast sleep
 Jesus wept for me and prayed
His Father’s will to keep

Now, I will thank Him as He gives
New strength to me each day
And as His footsteps light my path
I will walk His narrow way

Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

If your work is feeling endless 
And your hope is growing stale 
When you lag behind while others run 
And your dreams have seemed to fail 

Remember Jesus in the garden 
Praying while friends were fast asleep 
Choosing alone the cup of sorrow 
To drink there to His promise keep 

And when they led Him to the courtroom 
He stood as silent as a sheep 
Yielding to His Shepherd’s shearing 
And by His death wake us from sleep 

So child remember we are given 
Hope and strength for every day 
His footsteps left to mark our journey 
As it winds upward all the way

A Sabbath Day’s Flight

I have always been delighted to watch birds in flight. The effortless way they spread their wings reminds me of the way God intends for us to rest in His grace. Just as birds are made for flight (Minus the Ostrich and his cousins) God intends for us to rise up by faith into the air and show off the inner beauty of Christ who lies hidden as long as we walk on the ground with our faith wings folded. And what speaks more clearly of grace than God’s Holy Sabbath? The Sabbath is a weekly reminder that on the morning when Adam and Eve rose from their first night’s sleep, God gave to them a day, and He blessed it, and called it Holy!

So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. - Genesis 2:3 ESV  
And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Mark 2:27 ESV

For whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:10 ESV
