Waking Early With Christian

You will go out in joy
 and be led forth in peace;
 the mountains and hills
 will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
 will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12 NIV

Back in 1975 when our first child was just 14 months old, we used to read to him from a book titled, "Poems and Prayers for the Very Young". In that precious little volume, one of our favorites was Singing Time by Rose Fyleman. I read it so often that I eventually added a melody and wrote some verses to make it into a lullaby somewhat based on Isaiah 55:12.. Now in spite of the fact that I loved the tune, neither of our boys say they have any memories of it. But when I played it for our grandson Christian, he fell in love with the song and insisted that we record it together. This video has knocked around in my files ever since and each time I see I say, "I need to do something with that someday." Today someday arrived, and I hope that this simple recording will be fun to watch and maybe even a melody you could share with your own children or grandchildren. I did finally get the song copyrighted in 2015, but please feel free to use it with your own families as you wish. I'll send the chords and lyrics on request. Have a blessed day all!

Two Love Songs For Jesus

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. John 13:34 ESV

Sometimes we act as if Jesus had said, “This is a great suggestion, that you love one another.” But for those of us who call ourselves Christians, love is not one good option. It is the only option! This week at Life Care Center, we talked about God’s love, the prodigal son and his father. Then we ended with these two choruses, “This is My Commandment” and “Beloved, Let us Love One Another”. I hope as you watch this little video, that you enjoy singing along with us as much as I enjoyed singing with my friends at Life Care Center! Have a blessed weekend everybody!

In Times Like These

The grass withers, the flower fades,
    but the word of our God will stand forever.
Isaiah 40:8 ESV

Whether we are looking at the news on television or hearing the news about one of our friends or family members on the telephone, it is sometimes hard to believe these things are really happening. “In Times Like These” was written in the midst of World War II. With reports of thousands dying every day on battle fields and in naval battles around the world and the outcome of the war far from certain, Ruth Caye was inspired to write, “In times like these, we need a Savior, in times like these, we need an anchor” The war that was being fought then is long over, but after eighty years, our need for a Savior, and the Bible, is greater than ever! I pray you will be encouraged and blessed by this week’s song from our Sunday service at Watermark Assisted Living. There is still no one like Jesus who alone promises to carry us through whatever war that we face in our lives today. God bless you all. Seek the Savior, hold on to His word and trust Him with your life and He will carry you through to the very end!
