Am I Willing to be Sent?

And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.    John 9:7 ESV

For those of you who don’t speak a second language you may have missed the fact that Jesus sometimes spoke in Aramaic while at others the common language (Greek). At crucial moments He moved to His mother tongue, such as when He cried out on the cross, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabacthani – my God my God why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). In this passage He sends the blind man on a mission to wash in a fountain which He gives its Aramaic name. Then just in case we miss that significance John translates it for us and tells us that it means “sent”.

Any time we are waiting on God for a miracle we need to first ask ourselves, “Am I willing to be sent?” To be sent means doing something I have never done. To be sent may mean doing something difficult (Jesus was asking the blind man to make a trip of over half a mile). To be sent most importantly means that as we begin our journey we are walking by blind faith into the exact center of God’s will. If we want to trust see all that God has in store and experience all that He wants to do get prepared; because Jesus has a mission and He is ready to send us on it when we are ready to be sent.

Cloudy Day

Do you know how the clouds are balanced, Those wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge? Job 37:16

As we are preparing to begin the road towards Florida I thought I’d take some farewell photos of my beloved farm (not mine exactly but the one I have managed for 25 years. Wouldn’t you know it but my big chance for lots of spectacular endless mountain scenery ended up as a cloudy day.

But even with clouds it is still an amazing place. It is so hard to imagine not seeing these hills, muddy roads, quiet streams and fields.

Nothing grows easily in this hard rocky clay soil but grass, trees, corn and people with roots deep enough to keep them from being blown off the mountain ridges!

But whatever road God leads us on He has promised to be with us. What better scenery than the horizon that God has chosen is there? He has promised to watch over, walk along side and care for our needs in whatever place He chooses for us to call home!

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26

Invisible God – Day Two

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory 1 Peter 1:8

Wouldn’t it have been great to see Jesus walking on the waves as Peter did? Don’t you just wish some days you could at least catch  glimpse of God like Moses or ask Jesus  questions like Thomas? Mary got to wash His feet with perfume a

nd Martha had a front row seat as Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb. Yes most of us would love to know more details; but by God’s design we are given only His word.  But what a word it is that God has given us! His word is not just the sound of a voice contacting us through sound waves. His word is living and powerful! The word of God is a light that shines in our dark place and it is our shelter from the storm. God’s word is a treasure hidden in a field and it is our pearl of greatest price. The more we struggle to understand Him, the more precious the riches of His word become. I don’t understand all of this plan which God has chosen; but by faith I am walking with my invisible God on His invisible road to His invisible destination!
