Getting to Sing by Christmas

Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord , all the earth! Psalm 96:1 ESV

It seems that the door is just beginning to reopen to nursing home ministry if only just a crack. I cannot yet go into a facility nor can the residents come out. But what we were able to do was meet outdoors with those in the Senior living units that surround the main building. Please pray with us that no matter the results of the election that in some safe way that we will be able to sing for our dear friends by Christmas. We can and do send cards and have already raised money to purchase about thirty large print Advent devotionals to give. What is on my heart is to have opportunity to sing Christmas carols in person even if we cannot hug or even shake hands. Thanks for your prayers encouragement and ideas. Today the video includes Have Thine own Way, some clips from our meeting last Saturday and O How I Love Jesus. God bless you and have a great weekend.

Simplicity

For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. 2 Corinthians 1:12

Friends of ours have a small cottage by a lake that they allow us to stay in for free a few days each year. It is hard to describe the rest and clearness of heart we gain while spending days away from social media, television or even phone calls (No cell service there!)

Paul talks about a clean and sincere simplicity in Christ that I am afraid of losing as I grow older. See just as our home seems to have accumulated lots of pretty but somewhat useless knickknacks over the years, so our hearts can become cluttered and and overflowing with information, wishful thinking and time wasting habits. But there is hope in Christ who is our one true source of rejoicing. Our great hope lies not by the accumulation of collections of good deeds on the scales of eternity but by the simple gift of His life, His blood, and His wisdom in place of ours. May this end of the Lord’s day be uncluttered, blessed and filled with the marvelous peace that flows always and only from Calvary!

I love this simple rendition of Come Thou Fount of Every blessing by Youngmin You. I pray that you will be blessed and kept by God’s amazing grace in the simplicity of the love of Jesus Christ!

Outdoor Prayer at Sunshine

Thank you for those who prayed for our event. Here is our opening song at this prayer and praise meeting that surprisingly lasted over an hour without anyone looking at their watch! There was some hand clapping and some tears. There were some with hands raised and others singing from behind their masks. But whatever the expression of praise I know for a certainty that Jesus was delighted and by faith came walking in our midst.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20
