Begin to Write Our Name

The Bible says the devil comes
And shouts things just aren’t fair
Because believers are being blessed
And kept under God’s care

He shouts He knows about our sins
And demands to take control
Because our failures and our faults
Have sold to Him our soul

But while he tells all that we’ve done
Thinking that He might win
The Son of God lifts up His hands
And shows the scars to Him

Reminding Him that from the Cross
He cried Father forgive
They do know not what they have done
I’ll die so they might live

Then in defeat the evil one
Slinks from the scene in shame
As he sees the Savior in God’s book
Begin to write our name!

And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. Luke 23:34 ESV

Simple Service – Humble Prayer

In the heat of moments
When our friends have been unkind
And by words or hurtful deeds
Leave some open wounds behind

We need to remind ourselves
When the nails pierced Jesus feet
That He asked God to forgive us
So we could walk down Heaven’s street

And remember on that fatal night
When Jesus was betrayed
That He simply washed their dirty feet
Then in the Garden humbly prayed

Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
John 13:5 ESV

His Eye is On the Sparrow

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Did you know that Jesus not only commands us to give thanks, but that He also gave thanks Himself? He thanked God for bread, before He fed the five thousand and even more amazingly, when He gave it to the disciples at the Last Supper. Jesus, knowing that everyone would run away, and that Judas would betray Him, still gave thanks. It strikes me that the anxious thoughts, problems and struggles that frustrate and keep me awake at night are nowhere near what Jesus faced. And yet in the middle of it all He was thankful. I am learning that when I let go of circumstances that are way beyond my control and trust them into the hands of God a miracle happens. The peace of God that is way beyond my understanding comes to keep and guard my mind in Christ Jesus. I may not see the answer to my prayers today or in the way I hoped, but God will be honored, I will be guided in the way He wants and in the end His blessing will be more than worth it all!
