In the quiet of the dawn When cicadas start to sing And our children are still dreaming And the mockingbird takes wing Then comes the Savior calling Come away and rest with me Find the strength to face the day And in troubles you will see That the battle is not won By great power or good plans But when each day begins with prayer Then God’s grace will make you stand! And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. As a fellow early morning person, I love it, Pastor Pete! Your poem reminds me of a passage from Jeremiah 9:23-24. (I’m paraphrasing) The wise shouldn’t boast of their wisdom. The strong shouldn’t brag about their strength. The rich shouldn’t tout their riches. Rather, our boast should be that we know and understand the Lord who delights in those who seek him wholeheartedly. Blessings to you, my friend!
Thanks for reading and commenting. Yes! We are the early birders among my WordPress friends. I am done for the day now and ready for a morning walk. It’s time to turn off the web and tune in to God and my web-footed friends at the pond. Have a blessed weekend!
I love this, Pastor Pete! You write wonderful poetry! I wish I had your talent. Blessings, my friend!
Thanks Cindy. I am glad you liked this morning’s verse. I appreciate your daily verses, photos and insights. I can see that most of those pearls of wisdom came at a high price. Blessings
Thank you, Pastor Pete, for your encouraging words.
I love this. My day almost always goes better when I start out in conversation with the Lord!🙏🏼
When learning Portuguese one of my Brazilian friends used to say that the key was, “Conversa, conversa, conversa!” I am sure that learning from God is the same. Learning His language is a two-way conversation!
