On to Dawn!

Sometimes we say that every cloud has a silver lining and in every trial there is a blessing. But the deeper truth is that our trials lead us desperate dependence on Him. Like the woman grasping for the hem of the robe of Jesus we feel forgotten and abandoned, but God has been with us through everything even when we didn’t know. Not every evil that we have suffered has been by God’s own choice. But in every suffering He has been with us. If we will trust Him all through the night He will lead us on to dawn!

Doctor Jesus!

Today I was thinking of a lady at the church my father attended many years ago, who would go to the altar and pray with such intensity that I can still remember her conversation with God. “Doctor Jesus I ask you to heal today! Doctor Jesus Heal today!” I really don’t know a single other thing about Rose but her honesty at the altar stuck in my memory because she was telling God she had a problem but she was also trusting in him to take care of it.

Like Rose on those days when I admit to God exactly how I really feel instead of pretending everything is okay I also find out that He is ready to help me to take the first step on His healing journey. My real and true acceptance that God’s grace is all I’m going to need is when I sign the release form for the heart transplant that only Doctor Jesus is able to perform!

Remembering Mom

Even when a nursing home is the best solution for Mom; Mother’s Day can be a time when they need an extra special dose of hope. This year one conservative estimate is that there are roughly 700,000 mothers who will have no one to stop in to see them. Why not consider using this as an opportunity to buy a few extra cookies; flowers or small  gifts that just say; we remember you? Tell them by your presence that they matter to both to you and to God.

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27 NLT
