Our Greatest Need

Sometimes my biggest problem has been that I have assumed God was just like me only bigger and more powerful. But Jesus shows us time and again that God is nothing like us. He is never tired but He rests. He is never wrong but always humble. He is older than the earth but new every morning. Most of all God delights in listening even when He already knows what we will say! How ashamed I am of my own habit of often interrupting others and insisting on my own opinion when often I am wrong. How wonderfully patient and kind is our Father in Heaven. Why not tell Him all the truth always? He already knows before we speak even one single word!

Who will go?

Answering the call of God is not so much about seeing needs and trying tp meet them ourselves. Answering God’s calling is about hearing the heart of God and freely choosing to be the carrier of His message. Jonah at first refused to go. Moses asked God to send someone else and Martha wanted Jesus to tell Mary to help. But in the end all of them accepted God’s direction for their own life. Are you wondering what His will is for you? He is waiting also till we see Him high and lifted up. He is looking to see who is willing to go!

What day is it?

I often ask my friends in the Alzheimer’s Unit. Do you know what day it is today? Then I tell them. “If anybody asks you tell them that This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24

We cannot choose what the day may bring but we can choose to rejoice that God will make of it what is good. Have a blessed day!
