Through every Season

Abiding in Christ, means staying connected through every season. Grapes begin growing in the Spring are harvested in summer. But no matter how beautiful or productive a vine is, they are all pruned in the Winter. Fruitfulness in God’s vineyard can only happen when we stay connected with Jesus through all the seasons of our lives.

John 15:1-2 ESV “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

  1. “But no matter how beautiful or productive a vine is, they are all pruned in the Winter.”

I knew this was true, but the productive and beautiful part really got my attention. Jesus said it, too: vines that produce are pruned by God so they can produce more.

My default thinking is, “Lord, I did my best this season, how about no pruning? Just give me a rest.”

Your pieces are always short and make one good point, Pastor Pete. It’s an example I try to follow.

    God Bless!

  2. After the pruning, the bounty proves God knows best. In this season of life, I’m excited by the pruning, eager to see how much the Lord will produce in my life before I’m called home. Thanks, Pastor Pete, for helping us focus on what matters most.
