Dream Challengers Part 3 – Despair

Genesis 40:23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

Though most of us have never gone to prison or been sold by our brothers we have all had times when, just like Joseph, it seems that we are forgotten. Joseph had begun his journey trusting unfaithful brothers. Joseph had faithfully worked hard for his master and had been faithful to God at the moment of temptation. Joseph had been given a dream and been gifted to interpret the dreams of others. Joseph did all these things because he chose to honor God. In all these situations Joseph only asked for one person to remember to help and by that one who most owed him that confidence, he was forgotten. kimg0486.jpg

The road ahead which once seemed to have endless possibilities now is blocked and locked, but God still carries the key to the gate!

Tonight you may feel  like Joseph: locked into a dungeon that tells you to despair. Yet in the face of long years in the prison Joseph went about his duties. Joseph continued in his faith. Joseph took no steps by his own understanding. Joseph acknowledged God in all his ways and then God directed his path.

Think of it. If Joseph had been set free the first week or the first month he would have had to start life all over as a freed slave with no possession, no direction and no protection. But at just the right moment, Joseph was in exactly the right place. Pharaoh didn’t have to send out a search party because Joseph was right there in his royal dungeon! Be ready by being yourself. be at rest in the place where you are locked. Be at peace when circumstances are most desperate. Trust God and He will bring your dream to pass.

Genesis 41:14  Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing, and came to Pharaoh.

My wife and I serve as members of a worship team at a multicultural church. Our members are from Brazil, Nepal and the U.S.. Because of the many languages and cultures in our local body we face unique challenges, such as how many songs will we do in English today? What new songs can we use in either language that are simple enough for the people to sing. The songs, the devotions and insights here are a small portion of some of the ways God is leading us as we push towards the goal. I pray that these will be both a blessing and an encouragement for those of you who may pass by Praise 2 Worship.
