Nursing Home Workers Training Manual

In our effort to continue to provide new and better training materials for the nursing home worker we are offering this newly updated and expanded training manual. To the older manual we have added three training sessions focused on music ministry in the nursing home. Anyone within our northeast region is also welcome to ask for us to come and to introduce the training materials in your local church. Our longing and desire as always remains to call attention to the overwhelming needs and challenges to service that lie just the other side of the four walls of your local nursing home.

Our new manual is available on Amazon under the title. “Would You Do It For One? Workbook” or you can follow the link below. Be blessed as you consider the calling to nursing home ministry.

Angels are Watching

Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father. Matthew 18:10

They are just helpless sheep and a good opportunity to exploit to a wolf. But to the owner of the sheep they are precious and worth defending. They are worth being cared for. They are worth something unexplainable, that links them to the Shepherd.

That is exactly what our Father sees when he looks behind the walls of our modern nursing home. Though the residents may seem to be of little value to our fast paced consumer culture, they are of infinite worth to God. If we will treat these little lambs with kindness their angels will see. Remember that God’s takes special delight in His weakest lambs!

An Eternity With God, [Get Ready]

Awesome thoughts for a quiet Sunday morning…

Broken Believers

18″ So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

2 Corinthians 4:18, (NLT)

This dear ones, is an awesome verse with some pretty profound implications. The more I marinade in it, the better it gets.

But more importantly, it refuses to give in to the temporary. The earthly reality that swirls around us is brief. Its provisional purpose is an exclusive one; it exists to prepare us for an eternity with God. That hope ‘rewires’ us. We must be prepared for this encounter, we must be changed.

The spiritual realities are the ones that are truly real,

(And the ‘Bible truths’ are the ones that are really authentic.)

Issues must be settled in the temporary ‘here-and-now.’…

Is that you?

I have other sheep too who are not of this sheepfold, I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice and there will be one flock with one Shepherd. John 10:16

When someone calls our name, even in a crowd we automatically stop and look to see why. Jesus is telling his disciples that they are not the only ones. He has people of every kind who will also be his sheep. Our unifying factor is not our race, language or family background. What makes us all one is that we have one Shepherd.

Maybe one reason that our churches are struggling to grow is that we haven’t yet gotten Jesus message. Can it be that Sunday morning at 11 AM is the most segregated hour of the week? Jesus says one flock with one Shepherd. Can you hear Him now?

Lamb of God

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” John 1:29

Innocent, meek, and vulnerable are just some of  ways Jesus came as the Lamb. He quietly allowed the terrible crucifixion on Calvary. He gently trusted his mother’s care to John. He forgave while still suffering, trusting that we would one day understand just a tiny portion of his gift and receive what He was offering. Behold… look carefully… keep your eyes on Him. He gives to us forgiveness and eternal life. All that Jesus takes from us is our sin!

Dr. Edméia Williams

Edmeia williams

I was so excited to see the recent coverage of the ministry of Dr. Edmeia Williams in CBN news. I first met Sister Edmeia when she came to our church to share about her ministry in Rio called The House of Martha and Mary. Her ministry began after the death of her husband when she vowed to devote the remainder of her days to God’s work . She has been working now over twenty years in one of the many favelas in Rio de Janeiro. If you have the opportunity to travel to Rio and God puts it on your heart to visit the ministry it will touch your heart and encourage you to do great things for God. Most of the coverage in the past of this great work has been in Portuguese so I am so privileged to share this report with my followers today. Be blessed – be challenged and get to know something of the real Brazil that stays behind once the Olympic games have ended. You can follow the link below to the CBN report or go yourself to CBN news world coverage to see the video.

Yes He Can!

And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat Mark 6:31KIMG0340

It’s funny the places where Jesus can take us out to dinner. The side of a Samaritan well, a beach by the sea of Galilee and a desolate region miles from the nearest village, all were chosen by our master as a perfect place to dine.

Desolate regions, beaches and wells are all places outside of our GPS satellite reception. We aren’t sure why we are there at first, but God makes His appointments according to His own rule-book. He sees from far away when we are dangerously closing in on selfishness, depression or exhaustion. The invitations which He sends out to us individually each carry the design of the universe creator and no two are alike.

Maybe and most of all God chooses those places so we can come to the end of ourselves, begin to see the needs of others and discover Him as the master chef, who has set us a table in the wilderness.

They spoke against God, saying, “Can God spread a table in the wilderness? Psalm 78:19

In Jesus hands that day in Mark’s gospel with His disciples in the wilderness, that question was answered 5000 times: Yes He can! Yes He can! Yes He can!
