Youth Ministry Night at Nursing Home

What an awesome privilege it was to see our teens give their best for Christ at the nursing home ministry this week!

Our youth went to a local nursing home to sing for the residents. The kids were such a blessing this week at this special night of thanksgiving for America. We have teens from several different nations and each one gave thanks to God for at least one thing about our nation. We are in a time of turmoil in the United States, but having young people willing to live for Christ means there is still a bright hope for our country. The tears flowing down the faces of some of our elderly veterans said it all about the impact they made!

Knit Together

image

For you did form my inward parts, you did knit me together in my mother’s womb Psalm139:13

I remember the soothing sounds oo knitting needles sliding back and forth in my mother’s hands. She began with just a stitch and from that single knot in a seemingly miraculous way a blanket or a scarf would gradually take form.
God also knits but in an infinitely more detailed way He individually draws together the yarn. Each of us is made from a pattern that began in the mind of our God. How strangely wonderful is this gift of life we have received. To love one another is in part a simple recognition of that Godly knitting in our neighbor!

Jesus is Waiting

Matthew 25:38-40 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Jesus is Waiting

The Savior is waiting to enter your heart

Why don’t you let Him come in

There’s nothing I this world to keep you a[art

What is your answer to Him?   Ralph Carmichael 1958

When we sang that song as young people, it as thrilling to imagine that Jesus truly and individually cared for each of us;  and the good news is that He did and does! The sad news is that our thoughts and concerns sort of fizzled out once we felt that He had…

More than Fears

Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul like a weaned child with his mother. Like a weaned child is my soul within me. Psalm 131:2

If there was one phrase that Jesus seemed to say to the disciples it was “fear not”. He told them when he walked on water and when he walked out of the tomb. He told them when they faced the impossibility of death ams when he calmed the storm. Fear is our go to emotion in almost every crisis of life. But when you are afraid you will find that God continues to hold you just as the mother holds her son who is being weaned. He doesn’t know what is happening. Mother is no longer providing the familiar milk. He is afraid, yet all the time he crys she holds him till all fearfulness is gone. He relaxes and finally rests trusting that beyond his fear is the love of the one who holds him tight!

More than Tears

But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you or turn back. Wherever you go I will go, wherever you live I will live. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God. Ruth 1:16

Ruth and her sister in law both started on the road to Bethlehem together. They were both determined to be faithful to take care of their mother in-law. Both of them kissed her and both shed tears, but Ruth had a faith in God that went far beyond tears.
Yes tears are precious to God and He treasures each one as it falls. But what is more precious than tears is our faith. God waits quietly for our decision. He won’t pressure us to choose His parh or promise that the journey will be easy. But in that moment that our hearts believe and trust Him totally a miracle occurs and our hearts become one with His. We choose Him more than our tears, our personal interests or emotions. We choose a future that begins and ends with Him and that will make all the difference!
