Touch of Spring

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:22

KIMG2427Surrounded by still barren trees this one tree burst forth with a golden bloom. It was as if a fairy god-mother touched her wand and added a touch of Spring.

If you have trudged through this winter feeling more like a survivor than a champion look to see the blossom of even a single tree. That gentle amazement flows from the faithfulness of God. One more winter has passed, the calendar has turned and God has kept His promise one more time!

Whom Shall I Fear?

The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?

On summer nights when I was a young boy we played kick the can. One would stand in the street on an upside down tin can while the rest would hide. If the kid who had his foot on the can saw you and called your name you were out. But if someone could break from their hiding place and kick the can before being called then everyone went free! If you were well hidden you might not take chances and wait for someone else to be brave. But if you were one of the last you were forced to make a choice and choose the moment to overcome your fear.
Life is like that also. One by one people who you hoped would be brave for you can let you down or disappear. One day you will have to choose to face that moment of vulnerability. We will have to face our greatest fear. Knowing that Jesus is on our side can give us the strength and courage to run to the goal. In that instant run fearlessly because God has promised to be our light in the darkest place!

He Spoke a Word and there was Day

He spoke a word and there was day

He traced the valleys by His hand

By Moses’ staff He made a way

The winds were stilled by His command

By faith he walked over the sea

And simple mud made blind eyes see

Not a single thing was hard for Him

Till in prayer my savior asked

If His bitter cup could pass

No not one thing was hard for Him

Until the cross – the nails –
the crown

When he bought my life and laid His downP1010592
