Teach us Your Paths

Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation; Psalm 25:4-5

In the last session we saw that as we pray God will come and show us His ways. Just as our trail guide spent time teaching us a little about riding and explaining how to follow him, so God delights spending time instructing us in His way and preparing us for what is ahead.

But the second prayer goes deeper and seeks God’s specific guidance in teaching us how to deal with the reality of what we are facing now. There are many paths, but there is only one path that Jesus will lead us on, At the end at our first prayer, “show us your ways”  if we say simply say ‘Amen!’ then we are forfeiting the privilege of having our Great God enter into our here and now and to help us. Our second prayer should follow close after the first, “God teach me Your path!”  We need His gentle but mighty guidance as we place our feet into the footprints of our Lord. Be encouraged today that no matter how confusing the path may seem, if we faithfully follow Him on His paths we will find that the trail (His trail) will lead us surely to our Father’s house.

My wife and I serve as members of a worship team at a multicultural church. Our members are from Brazil, Nepal and the U.S.. Because of the many languages and cultures in our local body we face unique challenges, such as how many songs will we do in English today? What new songs can we use in either language that are simple enough for the people to sing. The songs, the devotions and insights here are a small portion of some of the ways God is leading us as we push towards the goal. I pray that these will be both a blessing and an encouragement for those of you who may pass by Praise 2 Worship.
