Not long ago we had the fun of taking two of our grandsons horseback riding. It is a memory that we will treasure for a long time to come. That hour-long trail ride also reminded me of one of my favorite passages of scripture:
Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day. Psalm 25:4-5 ESV
When we got to the farm we first registered and paid for our ride. But, they didn’t just get the horses out of the stable and say, “Okay let’s go!” Instead, because we were all beginner riders, they took time to make sure we were properly fitted into the saddle, understood how to guide our horse and knew who to follow. It was just like the first line of David’s prayer “Show us you ways O Lord” Before we could begin we needed someone to show us our way.
Before you go out today check with the Lord who is not only our trail guide, He is also the Way the Truth and the Life! Listen carefully to his instructions as He cinches up your stirrups, shows you the way and prepares you for the path ahead.
